REScheck report for IECC compliance:
One method to validate compliance with the IECC Building Code is to prepare a REScheck report. REScheck reports can be used for new construction projects, remodels or additions. The report provides the builder with flexibility when considering building materials such as insulation and window specifications by considering trade-offs so they are not having to meet all the requirements of the prescriptive tables. If the builder chooses to exceed minimum requirements for a specific component, they may be able to reduce the minimum requirements of another.
Why is this important:
Sometimes it is not possible or practical to achieve all the specification required the prescriptive tables. A REScheck ensures the thermal envelope will be compliant per the IECC while allowing the builder the ability to choose components they can improve on. This can be especially useful when considering the cost of windows, doors and insulation.
